Agreement signed: 20%, 10 day net, 60 day replacement

Alabama-based civil contractor with offices in Huntsville and Scottsboro. Team currently has 3 estimators and is looking to add a mid-level civil estimator (NOT senior). This is a growth hire, not a backfill and they are willing to wait for the right fit.

They handle a full mix of civil projects across public and private sectors, including:

Commercial / Industrial
Single-family residential
Multi-family residential
Sitework, utilities, grading, earthwork

This is NOT a takeoff role

They need someone who can:

Build a full estimate
Compile and submit bids
Work under a Senior Estimator but operate independently

If a candidate has only done takeoffs, NOT a fit

MUST HAVES

3–5+ years of civil construction estimating experience
Experience with sitework, utilities, grading, or earthwork
Ability to build and submit full estimates (review-ready)
Experience with estimating software (HCSS HeavyBid preferred, others OK)
Willing to work onsite in Alabama (Huntsville or Scottsboro). They can possibly make this a hybrid role if candidate needs it. But they need to be able to go to sites and place estimates as well.

Alabama market experience / local relationships
Civil Engineering degree or related field
Experience across both public + private projects
Ability to identify:
Risk items
Scope gaps
Value engineering opportunities

DEAL BREAKERS

Only does takeoffs / support estimating
No civil construction experience (must be civil, not vertical GC)
Wants fully remote (this is onsite w/ some flexibility)
Senior-level candidates (client does NOT want senior)

COMPENSATION

Target: $70K – $90K base
Some flexibility for the right fit, but:
NOT looking to stretch into senior-level comp
