Job Title: Vice President of Operations


Position Summary

The Vice President of Operations is responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight across multiple service locations within a landscape maintenance and tree care organization. This role oversees daily operations, financial performance, and long-term growth initiatives while ensuring high standards of service delivery, safety, and regulatory compliance.

The Vice President of Operations works closely with regional leadership, account management teams, and field operations to optimize productivity, strengthen client relationships, and drive revenue growth. The ideal candidate is an experienced operational leader with a strong background in the landscaping, tree care, or green industry and a proven ability to lead teams, improve processes, and manage multi-location operations.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

    ● Provide overall leadership and operational oversight for multiple branch locations and service teams
    ● Direct and support Account Managers, Production Managers, and field crews to ensure efficient daily operations
    ● Monitor scheduling, crew productivity, and operational performance across service teams
    ● Ensure landscape maintenance, enhancement, and tree care services are delivered safely, efficiently, and to high quality standards

Revenue Growth & Client Service

    ● Support sales and estimating efforts for enhancements, specialty services, and large-scale projects
    ● Assist account management teams with complex proposals, key accounts, and service solutions
    ● Build and maintain strong relationships with property managers, homeowners’ associations (HOAs), and commercial clients
    ● Identify opportunities for revenue expansion within existing accounts and through new business development

Financial Performance

    ● Manage operational performance to meet revenue, profitability, and EBITDA targets
    ● Review job costing, labor utilization, and operational metrics to improve margins and efficiency
    ● Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute annual operating plans and budgets

Technical & Service Oversight

    ● Provide guidance and oversight for specialized services including tree care, trimming, removals, and related projects
    ● Assist with planning and estimating large or technically complex jobs
    ● Ensure compliance with applicable local regulations and permitting requirements related to landscaping and tree services

Safety & Compliance

    ● Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all operations
    ● Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, environmental regulations, and local permitting requirements
    ● Implement and enforce company safety policies and procedures across crews and job sites

Team Leadership & Culture

    ● Recruit, develop, and mentor operational leaders and field supervisors
    ● Foster a professional, accountable, and positive workplace culture
    ● Support employee engagement, retention, and professional growth

Systems & Process Improvement

    ● Oversee the use of operational systems and landscape management software for scheduling, estimating, and reporting
    ● Ensure accurate job costing, documentation, and performance tracking
    ● Identify and implement operational improvements and best practices across the organization

Qualifications

Required

    ● Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Horticulture, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
    7+ years of leadership experience in landscaping, tree care, construction services, or a related field operations environment
    ● Proven experience managing multi-location or multi-division operations
    ● Strong understanding of landscape maintenance, enhancement services, and field service operations
    ● Demonstrated success leading operational teams and improving productivity and profitability

Preferred

    ● Experience with landscape management software such as Aspire or similar operational platforms
    ● Professional certifications related to landscaping, arboriculture, or horticulture (e.g., ISA Arborist or similar)
    ● Knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting requirements related to tree care and landscape services
