Job Description

Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

The Opportunity A high-growth, private-equity-backed platform company is seeking a seasoned Chief Technology Officer to serve as the primary architect of operational efficiency across its expanding portfolio. This is a "player-coach" executive role designed for a professional who thrives in fast-paced environments, values directness over bureaucracy, and possesses the technical gravitas to standardize operations across multiple business units.

Core Responsibilities

Technology Standardization: Define and implement a standardized technology stack across the entire organization, balancing technician quality of life, ease of implementation, and vendor stability.
Core Tooling Oversight: Primarily manage the selection and optimization of PSA, RMM, and Business Intelligence (BI) tools.
Operational Remediation: Identify, report, and remediate inefficient or overly complex technical stacks within portfolio companies.
Stakeholder Management: Navigate and mitigate resistance from portfolio company CEOs and Presidents regarding technology mandates.
Data-Driven Negotiations: Empower staffing and operational negotiations with robust technical data to eliminate technical obfuscation and clarify true efficiency.
Team Leadership: Manage and scale the Corporate Technical team, including the VP of Integrations and Systems Integrator, acting as the final escalation point for complex standardization issues.
Efficiency Analytics: Develop key heuristics and BI-driven metrics to provide actionable insights into staff efficiency.

The Ideal Candidate

Experience: A mid-to-late career professional, ideally a former MSP CEO, with deep knowledge of the MSP industry, toolsets, and service delivery models.
Resilience: Possesses high emotional intelligence and the "thick skin" necessary to remain effective during difficult negotiations and high-conflict scenarios.
Execution Focus: Maintains a strong bias-to-action, prioritizing speed and effectiveness over perfection.
Leadership Style: A strong communicator who can adapt their personality to their counterparty while maintaining the drive to hit project timelines.

Environment & Compensation

Growth Trajectory: Join a firm that has doubled its revenue for three consecutive years and is positioned for a fourth.
Direct Impact: Report directly to the COO with the authority to authorize budgets and initiatives on the spot.
Autonomy: Enjoy significant freedom of action to solve problems and operate with executive authority.
Culture: Work within a lean, outcome-focused leadership team that values results over politics and bureaucracy.
