Vice President, Controller


Role Summary

The Vice President, Controller is responsible for leading all accounting operations and financial reporting functions within a complex operating environment. This role ensures accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting while building a strong internal control framework and scalable accounting organization. The VP Controller partners closely with executive leadership to support organic growth, operational excellence, and strategic initiatives, including acquisitions.


This role emphasizes margin transparency, inventory integrity, cost structure clarity, and disciplined working capital management.


Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Finance Leadership

    ● Lead and develop the accounting team, overseeing end-to-end accounting processes
    ● Establish the long-term vision for the accounting and finance function, including talent development, systems, and process improvements
    ● Oversee hiring, performance management, and resource planning

Financial Reporting & Close

    ● Own the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
    ● Prepare and deliver monthly financial reporting packages, including financial statements, variance analyses, and management dashboards
    ● Maintain and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
    ● Ensure compliance with GAAP and manage external audit relationships
    ● Research and resolve complex accounting issues and transactions as needed
    ● Partner with executive leadership to present financial insights to stakeholders
    ● Lead accounting-related ERP initiatives and workflow improvements

Inventory, Costing & Margin Integrity

    ● Oversee inventory valuation, accuracy, and reconciliation across component, WIP, and finished goods inventory
    ● Ensure appropriate costing methodologies across manufactured, assembled, repaired, and resale products
    ● Partner with Operations and Procurement on cycle counts, purchase price variance analysis, reserves, and warranty accruals
    ● Maintain ledger structures and reporting processes that support reliable gross margin reporting by SKU category, customer, and business line

Working Capital & Cash Management

    ● Monitor and optimize AR, AP, inventory levels, and cash conversion metrics
    ● Partner cross-functionally to improve working capital efficiency
    ● Manage lender reporting and debt covenant compliance

FP&A Partnership

    ● Support annual budgeting and rolling forecasts
    ● Provide scenario modeling for demand, pricing, capacity, and margin analysis
    ● Collaborate on KPIs and dashboards to support leadership decision-making

Internal Controls & Risk Management

    ● Strengthen internal controls across purchasing, inventory, cash, and financial systems
    ● Partner with commercial and product teams to improve pricing, discounting, and approval controls
    ● Oversee fraud prevention, segregation of duties, and system access governance

M&A Financial Integration

    ● Support financial due diligence activities
    ● Lead post-acquisition accounting integration, systems alignment, and reporting standardization
    ● Standardize charts of accounts, costing, and reporting across entities

Qualifications & Leadership Fit

Experience

    ● Public accounting experience required
    ● Deep experience with inventory accounting and cost structures in complex environments, including thousands of SKUs
    ● Proven ability to design, implement, and improve accounting processes—not just operate within established frameworks
    ● Experience working in dynamic, growth-oriented environments where hands-on execution is required

Leadership & Soft Skills

    ● Comfortable leading and managing change in evolving organizations
    ● Highly motivated to operate within a private equity–backed environment
    ● Able to balance strategic leadership with hands-on involvement (“roll-up-your-sleeves” mindset)
