Overview:

A leading organization in the recycling and industrial services sector is seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to oversee and enhance safety and environmental programs across multiple facilities in the North East Ohio region. Based in Canton, this role will partner with facility leadership to promote a culture of safety, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement across operations.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with deep knowledge of environmental and safety regulations, a proactive approach to risk management, and the ability to foster strong relationships across all levels of the organization.


Key Responsibilities

    ● Lead the development, coordination, and execution of EHS programs, policies, and procedures in alignment with company and regulatory standards.
    ● Build strong relationships with employees and management to promote an industry-leading safety culture focused on injury prevention and operational excellence.
    ● Develop, conduct, and coordinate EHS training for all employees — including onboarding, job-specific instruction, and recurring compliance training.
    ● Prepare and submit environmental and regulatory reports to local, state, and federal agencies, maintaining accurate and current documentation of inspections, incidents, and corrective actions.
    ● Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS considerations into daily operations, process improvements, and facility expansion projects.
    ● Conduct regular inspections, risk assessments, and internal audits to evaluate compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
    ● Coordinate environmental permitting activities (air, water, and waste) and ensure ongoing adherence to permit conditions and documentation requirements.
    ● Implement and monitor EHS management systems, performance metrics, and regional strategies to ensure continuous improvement.
    ● Serve as a trusted advisor to site leaders, providing guidance on incident prevention, corrective actions, and compliance best practices.

Qualifications

    ● Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field; equivalent work experience may be considered.
    5+ years of direct experience managing EHS programs in a recycling, heavy industrial, or manufacturing environment preferred.
    ● Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations, with the ability to interpret and apply standards across diverse work settings.
    ● Proven experience implementing EHS strategies and driving change management initiatives.
    ● Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging employees at all levels.
    ● Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    ● Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
    ● Proficiency in recordkeeping, reporting, and the use of EHS management systems.
    ● Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
