About the Role
We are seeking a PostgreSQL Database Administrator to manage, optimize, and secure data infrastructure supporting a modern cloud-native platform. This role is critical in ensuring high performance, reliability, and compliance across core systems. You’ll collaborate with engineering teams to optimize queries, maintain high availability, and implement best-in-class data governance practices.
Key Responsibilities
● Administer, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL clusters in production and staging environments.
● Implement replication, partitioning, and high-availability solutions (logical replication, streaming replication, failover).
● Optimize query performance, indexes, and execution plans for high-volume, API-driven workloads.
● Partner with application engineers to design schemas supporting modular applications and transactional systems.
● Manage database migrations as part of core platform enhancements and rewrites.
● Develop and enforce backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
● Ensure database-level compliance with relevant regulatory standards and internal policies.
● Integrate PostgreSQL with cloud-native infrastructure (AWS RDS, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines.
● Monitor performance and capacity using modern observability tools (e.g., pg_stat_statements, Prometheus, Grafana).
Qualifications
● 5+ years of hands-on PostgreSQL administration in production environments.
● Proven experience with replication, HA/DR, and performance tuning in high-transaction SaaS or technology platforms.
● Strong SQL skills with ability to tune queries for large datasets and API-based applications.
● Familiarity with JSONB, partitioning, and indexing strategies for dynamic data storage.
● Experience with AWS RDS for Postgres, Aurora, or cloud-managed Postgres services.
● Scripting skills (Python, Bash, or similar) for automation.
● Knowledge of data security practices including encryption, auditing, and compliance standards.
● Experience collaborating with engineering teams on schema design and migration strategies.
