Position: Property Accountant
Salary: $70-90k
Onsite/Hybrid: Prefer onsite 5 days, open to someone hybrid, 3-4 days onsite
Location: Needham, MA
About the job:
● Serve as primary tenant contact, addressing inquiries and ensuring strong tenant relations.
● Record monthly rent payments, maintain accurate tenant ledgers, and communicate delinquencies to management.
● Perform monthly reconciliations and update workpapers for banking, accounts receivable, and balance sheet accounts.
● Process tenant billbacks, including CAM reconciliations, utilities, percentage rent, and other lease-specific expenses.
● Review and analyze general ledger activity and P&L statements, ensuring proper expense allocation and preparing journal entries as needed.
● Partner with property management to develop annual property budgets and support ad hoc financial requests.
● Interpret commercial retail leases, accurately applying provisions related to CAM charges and percentage rent.
● Prepare and deliver detailed monthly property-level financial statements for management.
● Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy across accounting functions.
Requirements:
● Prior real estate experience, commercial preferred
● Experience with Yardi
● 3 to 5 years of general ledger/financial statement preparation
● Ability to collaborate across the organization and communicate up, down and across to all stakeholders
● Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office and associated products - strong Excel knowledge
● The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detailed, with strong analytical skills
