We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Project Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of civil and heavy highway construction projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring project execution meets all safety, schedule, quality, and budget expectations. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and technical capabilities to successfully manage field operations and stakeholder relationships.


Key Responsibilities:

    ● Oversee project execution to ensure safe, on-time, and within-budget delivery.
    ● Supervise Project Superintendents, Project Engineers, and on-site personnel.
    ● Develop and implement project schedules and work plans in coordination with the operations team.
    ● Lead project start-up tasks including permits, notifications for utilities (power, water, fire), and mobilization.
    ● Negotiate with clients and maintain professional relationships throughout the project life cycle.
    ● Participate in cost estimating and preconstruction planning.
    ● Optimize construction methods and work sequencing with project engineers.
    ● Monitor progress and adjust operations to meet milestones and productivity targets.
    ● Identify, evaluate, and manage subcontractors and suppliers with input from the Contracts and Division Manager.
    ● Conduct weekly project and division update meetings.
    ● Ensure compliance with project quality standards and commitments to clients.
    ● Review and approve change order requests, invoices, and final quantity reports.
    ● Develop and manage project budgets, cost controls, and billing accuracy.
    ● Mentor and evaluate Construction Engineers and junior staff.
    ● Participate in recruiting, onboarding, and training of new employees.
    ● Lead performance evaluations and career development planning for assigned team members.
    ● Recommend and implement technical solutions and innovative process improvements.
    ● Enforce safety compliance across all project operations.
    ● Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
    ● Participate in final project acceptance and closeout processes.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education & Experience:

    ● Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
    ● Minimum 10 years of experience in heavy civil construction, including design-build and large-scale infrastructure projects.
    ● Proven track record managing multiple aspects of complex construction projects.

Technical Knowledge:

    ● Strong knowledge of construction practices in grading, paving, concrete, utilities, and underground work.
    ● Familiarity with construction equipment and field management technologies.
    ● Experience with project estimating, budgeting, cost control, and scheduling software.

Leadership & Communication:

    ● Exceptional leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
    ● Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff, subcontractors, and clients.
    ● High attention to detail with a proactive, problem-solving approach.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

    ● Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk during a standard 8+ hour workday.
    ● Ability to lift up to 25 lbs frequently and carry up to 15 lbs.
    ● Work is often conducted outdoors in varying weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
    ● Must be comfortable working at heights (up to 60 feet) and climbing ladders or scaffolding.
    ● Frequent exposure to noise, dust, grease, heavy equipment, and common construction site materials.
    ● Must be flexible to adjust work schedule based on project demands.
