We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Vice President of Hauling Operations to lead and elevate our waste and recycling collection services. This executive-level position is responsible for driving safety, operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and financial performance across a broad geographic service area.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Operational Leadership

    ● Develop and implement long-term strategies that align with company goals.
    ● Oversee day-to-day operations across residential, commercial, and roll-off collection.
    ● Identify and implement technologies to improve efficiency and customer experience.

Team Management & Development

    ● Lead a multi-layered team including regional directors, division managers, supervisors, and maintenance leaders.
    ● Cultivate a culture of accountability, development, and performance.

Safety & Compliance

    ● Champion a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to DOT, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
    ● Lead training initiatives and incident response protocols.

Customer Service & Community Engagement

    ● Ensure responsive service delivery and quick resolution of service issues.
    ● Build relationships with municipalities, regulatory bodies, and key customers.

Financial & Performance Management

    ● Manage division-level budgets and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs).
    ● Improve productivity, route density, fleet utilization, and profitability.

Fleet & Equipment Oversight

    ● Oversee preventative maintenance programs and vehicle lifecycle planning.
    ● Leverage technology such as on-board systems and route optimization tools.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration

    ● Align operational initiatives with organizational objectives through collaboration across departments.
    ● Serve as the bridge between executive leadership and field teams.

Reporting & Communication

    ● Deliver regular performance updates to senior leadership.
    ● Identify opportunities for operational enhancements and growth.

Qualifications

    ● Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Operations, or related field (MBA preferred).
    ● 10+ years in hauling, transportation, or logistics with 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
    ● Deep understanding of route operations, budgeting, and fleet management.
    ● Experience working in unionized environments is a plus.
    ● Skilled in using operational technology (e.g., dispatch, telematics, route optimization).
